At SHP we believe in playing to our strengths. The multi-faceted nature of our firm is evidenced by the fact that each department is spearheaded by a director with particular educational qualifications and experience in that field.

Karl Schüler

Karl obtained his BProc degree from the University of South Africa in 2004 and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2007.

In 2014 Karl was admitted as a conveyancer and now heads up our firm’s conveyancing and bonds departments.

Unlike most conveyancers, Karl has a strong litigation background and is no stranger to the courtroom, boasting vast criminal and general litigation experience.

Rudi Heerschop

Rudi holds an LLB degree from the University of Johannesburg, which he obtained in 2009, and was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2011.

In his personal capacity, Rudi specialises in all aspects of the law surrounding community schemes and High Court Litigation.

Under Rudi's guidance, our firm is an affiliated member of the National Association of Managing Agents (NAMA) and we proudly represent over 2000 individual community schemes. He is also a passionate trainer and educator, who authors training material and guidance pieces circulated to the community scheme industry throughout South Africa.

Mark Pienaar

Mark holds the following qualifications:

LLB degree obtained from the University of Johannesburg in 2009;

LLM in Commercial Law (with an emphasis in Banking Law), from the University of Johannesburg, obtained in 2014;

Advanced Diploma in Insolvency Law, obtained from the University of Pretoria in 2015.

In addition to the above and in honouring our commitment to the firm’s continuous development, he is currently engaged in further studies towards a second Master’s Degree in Corporate Law at the University of Johannesburg.

Mark heads up the firm’s banking litigation department and collections department.

Mark has a strong litigation background and, having studied Banking Law on a Master’s Level, is able to guide our team in the business of collections and concominant litigation, remaining mindful of the financial imperatives, legal and reputational intricacies apposite to the banking sector.
